Sirkeci Mansion

From €50 · 10:00 – 20:00

The Sirkeci Mansion is a small, classically Ottoman-styled hotel a minute uphill from Gülhane Park and the Topkapı walls. The wellness centre is called Tulipa Health Club, and it is what the British would call a mini-hamam — a compact, well-kept Turkish bath with a sauna and a steam room arranged off the same vestibule, plus an indoor pool and a small fitness room.

Spa packages are bookable for non-guests on enquiry: the standard combination is hammam entry plus a kese-and-foam massage, with optional aromatherapy add-ons. The hammam itself is small — this is a boutique hotel, not a sultan’s bath complex — but the dome and the heated marble are real, and the staff have been trained in the ritual rather than running a tourist conveyor. Bring a swimsuit for the pool; the hammam itself is bathed in the traditional way.

The hotel is part of the Sirkeci Group, which means the staff approach the place with the hospitality-as-craft ethos that distinguishes the better small operators on the historic peninsula. The location is its single best feature: Hagia Sophia is five hundred metres up the hill, the Spice Bazaar five hundred metres downhill toward the water, and the Sirkeci tram is two minutes away on foot. A daycation here is for someone who wants the steam without the production scale.
