Renaissance Polat Istanbul Hotel

From €75 · 10:00 – 19:00

A clarifying note before the rest: this is the Renaissance Polat at Yeşilköy, on the Marmara coast four kilometres from the airport. It is not the Renaissance Polat Bosphorus, which is in Beşiktaş on the other side of the city. Same brand family, two completely different hotels — the booking systems frequently confuse them, and the wrong reservation here means a forty-five-minute taxi at the wrong end of a layover.

The Yeşilköy property sits between the corniche and the Sahil Yolu, with the Marmara directly south and the airport perimeter visible on the horizon. The pool arrangement is the standard upper-end double act — outdoor pool open seasonally, indoor pool year-round — and the spa includes a Turkish hammam plus the usual European wet-circuit. The Marmara Restaurant on site does seafood that the hotel claims as a draw in itself; for daycation purposes, lunch on the terrace overlooking the water is the more honest version of the experience the airport-hotel category usually fails to deliver.

The day pass is not formally listed at the time of writing — pricing is handled by the front desk on request, which is how a lot of Istanbul’s category operates. Call ahead. The hotel runs a regular shuttle to the airport and to a few central points; worth asking about when booking. Suited to travellers with eight or more hours between flights who want sea air, a real swim, and a meal that isn’t the departures-lounge version of food.
