DoubleTree by Hilton Istanbul Piyalepasa
From €75 · 10:00 – 16:00
This is the practical day pass in Beyoğlu — a contemporary 5-star occupying a glass-and-stone block on the Piyalepaşa side of Kasımpaşa, three kilometres from the Galata Tower and within easy reach of Taksim by Havist or taxi. The building is large, the lobby has the soaring ceiling that DoubleTree properties tend to favour, and none of it is trying to be the Pera Palace. That clarity is part of the appeal.
The day pass — listed at around US$83 on Dayuse.com, ten to four — opens the Elysium Spa: a proper indoor pool, a Turkish hammam, sauna, whirlpool, and a fully kitted-out fitness floor. The hammam is the surprise. It is laid out in marble in the traditional style and, on weekday afternoons, reportedly quiet enough to read in. The pool is glass-roofed and practical, the kind of pool you can actually swim laps in.
Lunch is at the Atrium under the glass roof; for a drink before leaving, the Monte Terrace on the rooftop has the view back toward Galata and the Golden Horn. Best in shoulder season, when the rooftop is open but the city is not yet full.
